If you have been watching marathons, track and fields, or triathlons, you have probably noticed some athletes wearing colorful tapes on various parts of their bodies. If you are a seasoned runner, you could probably relate to this stuff.
It is kinesiology tape - a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. Therapeutic kinesiology tape that can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.
For the first decade after its introduction practitioners in Japan were the main users of the therapeutic kinesiology tape. By 1988 the tape had been adopted by Japanese Olympic and professional athletes before spreading across the world.
Tmax Kinesiology Tape leads a better athletic life.
A Japanese chiropractor made the first elastic therapeutic tape and taping method. This taping method gently lifts the layer of skin and attracted tissue covering a muscle so that blood and other body fluids can move more freely in and around that muscle.
Tmax Medical realized the surprise function of kinesiology tape. So that Tmax Medical made premium kinesiology tape, "Tmax Tape", giving more effects of this taping method.
How does Kinesiology Tape work?
Kinesiology tape is almost identical to human skin in both thickness and elasticity, which allows kinesiology tape to be worn without binding, constricting or restricting your movement. It is used for treating athletic injuries and a variety of physical disorders.
When kinesiology tape is applied to the skin over an inflamed area, the tape gently lifts the skin, creating a space between the skin and the tissues below. Due to the increased space between the skin and tissues, the pressure on the pain receptor will be reduced. This helps to decrease pain and swelling in the injured areas. It also helps to improve blood and lymph circulation.
Do these colorful tapes improve athletic performance?
Although it contains no medications or topical substances, kinesiology tapes can effectively relieve both acute and chronic pain. Its elasticity lifts the skin slightly, which immediately reduces pressure on sensitive pain receptors under the skin.
Additionally, reduced pressure on the lymphatic drainage channels enhances the removal of fluids and other materials that collect in an injured area. This applies not only to sports injuries, but also to post-surgical recovery and other inflammatory conditions, including lymphedema.
Fatigued, overused muscles contain lactic acid that contributes to pain and stiffness and limits the ability to continue exercising. The kinesiology tapes prevent and relieve muscle spasms and cramps by enhancing circulation that improves delivery of oxygen and nutrients to fatigued or overused muscles.
This is one of the most important benefits of kinesiology taping for competitive athletes. Depending on how it is applied, kinesiology tape can prevent either overstretching or over-contraction of injured muscles. When combined with its pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, this can allow athletes to continue training as their injuries heal.
